The basic loop
Select cards to form a poker hand, score enough points to clear the current blind, then choose upgrades that change the value of future hands. Each run develops differently according to the cards, Jokers and modifiers you find.
Beginner tip
Read each Joker carefully and look for effects that multiply one another. A reliable combination is usually more useful than upgrading many unrelated hand types.
